Rahul Bhatt, the son of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and his first wife Kiran, recently opened up about the infamous kissing picture that featured his father and sister, Pooja Bhatt, on a magazine cover more than three decades ago. The picture sparked widespread controversy and has continued to be a topic of conversation over the years. In a recent interview, Rahul was asked about his thoughts on the picture, and he responded in a calm and collected manner.
Rahul Bhatt Defends Family Over Kissing Photo
At the time the photo was published, Rahul was only 14 years old. He recalled that the picture didn’t affect him much, saying, “It’s like water off a duck’s back. We knew the truth, and we had seen everything since childhood.” Rahul’s words reflect how he and his family were able to handle public scrutiny and controversies, especially as part of a well-known film family.

Growing up in the film industry, Rahul explained how it shaped his perspective and helped him deal with the spotlight. “Children of film families are either very messed up or very strong,” he said, emphasizing that the family did not let the public’s opinion bother them. Rahul further added that people often assumed they were concerned about such controversies, but he clarified that this wasn’t the case.
In the past, Pooja Bhatt had also addressed the controversy surrounding the photo. During an interview, she described the moment as “absolutely innocent” and expressed disbelief at how easily people could misinterpret the relationship between a father and his daughter. She pointed out how society can be quick to judge, questioning how people could view a familial bond in such a negative light.
Pooja also raised an important point about hypocrisy, stating that if people could misinterpret a father-daughter relationship, they could make assumptions about anything, which she found ironic when talking about family values.
