During the court proceedings, DRI advocate Madhu Rao stated that the actress had confessed to receiving money through hawala transactions to buy gold. Her lawyer, Kiran Jawali, argued for her bail, but the prosecution opposed it, citing strong evidence against her. The court has reserved its decision on her bail plea until March 27.

The case has gained significant attention because of Ranya Rao’s connection to a senior police officer. Her stepfather, Ramachandra Rao, holds the rank of a DGP (Director General of Police), and the Karnataka government has ordered an investigation into his possible involvement. Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta has been assigned to examine the case and submit a report.

Meanwhile, Karnataka’s home minister stated that he is waiting for the investigation report and is unsure if any interim findings have been submitted to the chief minister. The authorities have promised a fair and thorough investigation into the case.
