Esha Verma Responds to Defamation
Esha Verma, the daughter of Rupali’s husband, Ashwin Verma, accused Rupali of body-shaming her during a photoshoot in 2017. She also made several personal allegations regarding her family life, which became public after she shared them online. This led to a defamation case filed by Rupali, seeking Rs 50 crore in damages.
In a detailed Instagram post, Esha addressed the legal action and clarified the situation. She explained that she deleted her posts not out of fear, but to protect her peace after sharing her personal experiences. She said, “I was not just a random person speaking out, but someone who was directly affected.” Esha mentioned how hard it was to speak out, but it helped her find clarity and peace after years of silence.

Esha described how her decision to open up about her relationship with her father, Ashwin Verma, and her stepmother, Rupali, has been difficult but ultimately liberating. She also clarified that she never intended to involve her minor stepbrother, Rudransh, in the controversy, and that all her statements were based on personal experiences.
After receiving the legal notice from Rupali’s lawyer, Esha deactivated her social media for a while, but emphasized that this was not due to fear. Instead, she wanted to protect her emotional well-being. Esha expressed disappointment at how the situation unfolded, calling the response from her family “disturbing and cruel.”
