Huma Qureshi, a talented actress known for her impressive performances, recently revealed why she turned down a two-lead film. She explained that the lack of experience of the other actors and the fact that she wasn’t offered higher pay were the main reasons for her decision. Huma also highlighted that having a large social media following doesn’t necessarily guarantee that a film will attract viewers.
Huma Qureshi Rejects Two-Lead Film
In a recent interview, Huma shared her thoughts on the industry’s expectations and the decision-making process when offered new roles. She explained that even though the other actor was popular, their lack of experience on streaming platforms didn’t match her own. Huma, who has a lot of experience with OTT platforms, felt that her role should have been given equal importance as the other actor’s, but this wasn’t guaranteed in the discussions.

Huma also mentioned that, at this point in her career, she doesn’t feel the need to accept roles that don’t align with her values. When the production team insisted that the film was a two-lead project, Huma said that, as the more senior actor, she deserved top billing and a higher salary. Since they couldn’t agree on these terms, she chose to walk away from the project.
Huma emphasized that honesty is key when it comes to such decisions and that she doesn’t approach these matters with arrogance. Instead, she chooses to approach them with respect and clarity. She also pointed out that while the other actor had a large number of followers on social media, it doesn’t mean the film would automatically do well. Popularity on social media doesn’t always translate into a strong audience for a film or show.
On the work front, Huma Qureshi was recently seen in the second season of her ZEE5 show Mithya. She also has some exciting upcoming projects, including Gulabi and Bayaan. Fans can also look forward to seeing her reprise her role in Jolly LLB 3, where she will once again play the character of Pushpa Mishra, alongside Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi.
Huma Qureshi’s decision to prioritize her career and values reflects her commitment to her craft and her refusal to settle for roles that don’t meet her standards.
