During this period, Mendes admitted that he suffered from depression and anxiety in an interview on the Jay Shetty podcast. He said he felt a ‘general dark’ which he said was worse than what the fans could see from the outside.

Shawn Mendes Cancels Tour
Shawn Mendes said that although he had sung through thick and thin, this case was not the same. He thought he cannot escape the stresses of touring and it is time that he takes some time off and gets a balance in his life. He saw that the only way to do this was to build a more realistic existence for himself.
While Mendes understood that canceling the tour meant he was letting down a lot of individuals—his fans, the workers, everyone —he did it for his own mental benefit. He said people felt let down, how “Oh man, people were excited.” However, before making the last one, he had rescheduled the tour dates several times but did realize that now he had to seek help.
Today, Mendes is again touring and supporting his new album that will be released on the 18 of October. His story also includes the points that nowadays humans need to get time for themselves especially when they feel they are mentally ill.
