Lisa Marie Presley’s Memoir Reveals Her Fears About Father Elvis Presley and Her Struggles with Addiction

Lisa Marie Presley’s posthumous memoir, titled From Here to the Great Unknown, gives a deeply personal insight into her life, her struggles with addiction, and her relationship with her famous father, Elvis Presley. This memoir, set to be released on October 8, was completed by Lisa’s daughter, Riley Keough, using voice recordings Lisa left behind before her death in 2023 at age 54.

Lisa Marie Presley’s Memoir

Lisa Marie Presley’s addiction to opioids began after she gave birth to her twins, Finley and Harper, in 2008. She detailed how it became difficult to manage her dependency on prescription painkillers and the severe withdrawals she experienced. The memoir discusses how Lisa tried to battle her addiction, sharing honest reflections on the impact it had on her life.

The memoir also explores Lisa Marie’s deep-rooted fears about her father’s health. She recalled how, even as a child, she noticed signs of his declining health due to substance abuse. Elvis Presley died in 1977 when Lisa was only nine years old. She mentioned in her memoir, “I was always worried about my dad dying. When I saw him, he was acting strangely. At times, I would find him unconscious.”

This fear had a lasting impact on Lisa Marie, who was haunted by the memories of her father’s death. Her concern for Elvis, as described in the book, shaped her early life and relationships.

Lisa’s memoir also sheds light on her personal relationships. She describes her first husband, Danny Keough, as a source of support throughout her struggles. The couple had two children together, Riley and Benjamin. Tragically, Benjamin passed away in 2020 at the age of 27. Despite their divorce, Danny remained close to Lisa and supported her even during difficult times.

Lisa’s book not only covers her own battles with addiction but also reflects on her unique experiences growing up in the shadow of Elvis Presley. The memoir presents a raw and emotional portrayal of a woman striving to overcome her personal demons while living in the public eye.

From Here to the Great Unknown will be released on October 8 and is currently available for preorder. Through this book, Lisa Marie’s voice lives on, offering readers a chance to understand her story from her perspective.
