In a tragic incident at HDFC Bank in Lucknow, a woman named Sadaf Fatima died after falling from her chair at work. She was the Additional Deputy Vice-President at the bank’s Vibuti Khand branch in Gomti Nagar. Reports suggest that her death may be linked to excessive work pressure.
HDFC Bank Employee Dies
According to colleagues, Sadaf fell off her chair inside the bank and was quickly taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead. Her body has been sent for a postmortem examination.

The incident has raised concerns about the working conditions in many workplaces. Akhilesh Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party, commented on the situation, stating that the pressure and stress in jobs have become overwhelming, likening the conditions to those of bonded laborers. He criticized the government for not addressing the issue and for providing what he called “baseless suggestions” instead of real solutions.
This incident follows another tragic case involving an Ernst & Young employee in Pune, who also died due to stress and excessive workload. Anna Sebastian Perayil, a new hire, had reportedly faced overwhelming demands and long hours. Her mother claimed that the company culture glorified overwork, contributing to her daughter’s death.
These incidents highlight the urgent need for better work-life balance and support systems in workplaces to prevent such tragedies from happening in the future.
