Terror Plot Against Taylor Swift's Vienna Concerts Stopped

A terror plot targeting Taylor Swift’s concerts in Vienna, Austria, was recently discovered, leading to the cancellation of all three shows. A 19-year-old Austrian man had planned to carry out a suicide attack during Swift’s Eras Tour concerts. The concerts were scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Ernst Happel Stadium.

Details of the Taylor Swift Plan

The suspect in the stand stated during his trial that he planned to cause the death of so many people in the concert through the use of explosives and knives. Austrian security led by Omar Haijawi-Pirchner raided the house of the suspect and confiscated dangerous items such as hydrogen peroxide, detonators, and home-made explosives.

Officials stated that the man was radicalized by the Islamic State (IS) and intended to use the occasion of Taylor Swift’s concert by targeting the massive congregation. As it seemed the Austrian security services counteracted immediately that allowed stopping a chain of action that might have led to a tragedy.

Additional Arrests

Two other individuals were also apprehended in regards to the plot. One was a 17 year female working for a company that oversaw the stewardship of the stadium the other was a 15 year old boy who was found in close proximity to the stadium. However, the younger suspect has failed to cooperate in the investigation process.

International Help

Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner said that an informant of a foreign intelligence agency, probably an American one, was informed about the upcoming terror attack. With this particular information, the Austrian authorities were able to take action and prevent the plan of the terrorist attack. After the event, Karner said this was a tragedy avoided.”

Concerts Canceled and Refunds

Due to the security threat, all three of Taylor Swift’s Vienna concerts were canceled. The concert promoter announced the cancellation on Taylor Nation’s Instagram, and fans who bought tickets will get their money back within 10 business days.

Taylor Swift’s upcoming concerts in London from August 15-20 are still scheduled to go on as planned.
