Vettaiyan Box Office Collections: Rajinikanth's Film Collects Rs 207 Crore in Eight Days Worldwide

The film “Vettaiyan,” featuring the legendary Rajinikanth, has made a strong start at the box office. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, this investigation drama also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Manju Warrier, and Fahadh Faasil. Over its extended first week, “Vettaiyan” earned nearly Rs 207 crore worldwide. The majority of this revenue, around Rs 183 crore, came during the four-day Dussehra weekend. However, the film faced challenges after that, earning only Rs 24 crore during the weekdays.

Vettaiyan’s Box Office Performance

Despite a good opening weekend, “Vettaiyan” struggled to maintain its momentum, and its performance in the second weekend will be crucial in determining its overall success. In India, the film grossed Rs 134 crore in the first week, with Tamil Nadu contributing Rs 80 crore. Initially, it seemed that “Vettaiyan” could cross Rs 100 crore in Tamil Nadu, but that now appears unlikely.

Internationally, “Vettai yan” made around 8 million dollars during its opening, but it is projected to fall below 10 million dollars by the end of its run. For context, Rajinikanth’s previous film, “Jailer,” grossed over 23 million dollars. Even though “Vettaiyan” is now the second-highest Tamil grosser of 2024, its content seems to have disappointed audiences, leading to a drop in viewership after its opening weekend.

In terms of box office performance in India, “Vettai yan box” had the following collections over its first eight days: Rs 35.65 crore on the first day, Rs 25.50 crore on the second, and Rs 30 crore on the third. The film’s total gross in India stands at Rs 134 crore, with an international total close to Rs 72.75 crore, leading to a worldwide gross of approximately Rs 206.75 crore.

“Vettaiyan” tells the story of SP Athiyan IPS, a police officer stationed in Kanniyakumari. He is known for his fearless approach to crime and is nicknamed “Vettaiyan,” meaning “The Hunter.” The plot thickens when he meets a school teacher, Saranya, who fights for the rights of her students. Amitabh Bachchan plays a pivotal role as a Supreme Court Justice advocating for human rights, creating a clash between different ideologies surrounding justice.

Currently, “Vettaiyan” is still showing in theaters, and moviegoers can book tickets through online platforms or at the box office.
