Kashmir Valley Sees Early Winter with Snowfall in Gulmarg and Sonamarg Tourist Spots

On October 6, 2024, light snowfall occurred in the higher areas of the Kashmir Valley, including popular tourist spots like Gulmarg and Sonamarg. This is the second time in ten days that these areas have seen snow, marking the early arrival of winter. The snowfall was accompanied by rain in the lower regions, leading to cooler temperatures, which made residents and tourists start preparing for the cold season ahead.

Tourists were excited to see the first snow-covered landscapes in places like the Affarwat range in Gulmarg and the Pir Panjal Range. In Srinagar and nearby areas, light rain added to the chilly weather. The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar expects scattered rain over the next two days and predicts that higher areas may receive more snowfall due to a weak Western disturbance starting Tuesday.

The weather forecast for the next ten days suggests mostly dry conditions, but there may be brief rain showers. Although October 5 might see some isolated rain, October 7 and 8 are expected to be dry, with a chance of rain from October 9 to 14.
