Television and film actor Rajesh Kumar, popular for his role in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, has shared an honest update about his financial situation. He revealed that he is now very close to clearing a long-standing loan and only a small portion of his debt is left.
Rajesh Kumar explained that earlier he was struggling with a financial burden of nearly ₹2 crore. Over time, he has managed to repay most of it, and now only around 10–15 percent remains pending. This marks a major improvement in his financial journey.
Why Rajesh Kumar Sold His Car
In a recent conversation, Rajesh Kumar also spoke about selling his personal car. He clarified that the decision was not because of extreme financial pressure but due to practical reasons.
He shared that Mumbai traffic played a big role in his decision. According to him, using public transport or app-based cabs is much easier and faster than sitting in long traffic jams with a private car.
Because of this, he now prefers travelling by auto rickshaw, metro, or cab services like Ola and Uber for daily commuting and even for shoots.
Public Transport Life and Changing Public Perception
Rajesh Kumar mentioned that people often misunderstood his situation in the past. When he faced financial challenges earlier, seeing him travel in an auto rickshaw led to wrong assumptions about his lifestyle.
Now, the same thing is seen differently. He shared that when people see him using public transport today, they often call him “down to earth” instead of judging him.
He feels that public perception changes with time, but his own approach remains simple and practical.

The actor clearly stated that he does not believe in showing off luxury. For him, comfort and convenience matter more than status.
He said that even if someone owns an expensive car, it does not change the reality of being stuck in traffic. This is why he prefers simpler travel options.
