SS Rajamouli, the famous Indian film director, is working on a big new movie called SSMB29. This film stars Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The shooting of the movie started in January 2025. After finishing the first part in Hyderabad, the team moved to Odisha to continue the shoot. Priyanka Chopra Jonas joined the team there. The film also includes actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who confirmed his role. This movie is special because it is only one part, not a series as some rumors said.
Nana Patekar Declines Rajamouli’s Film Offer
There were reports that Nana Patekar, a well-known actor, was going to play an important role in SSMB29. He was expected to play the role of Mahesh Babu’s father. A look test was done for him, and the director SS Rajamouli even went to Nana Patekar’s farmhouse in Pune to tell him about the script personally. However, Nana Patekar politely refused the offer. He said that the role did not interest him enough, even though the makers offered him a large amount of money, about Rs 20 crore, for shooting only 15 days. Despite this, Nana Patekar said he would like to work with Rajamouli in the future.

SSMB29 is expected to be a huge movie, often compared to big adventure films like Indiana Jones. The story is written by Rajamouli’s father, V. Vijayendra Prasad. Fans are excited because this movie will mark Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ comeback to Indian cinema after her last film, The White Tiger, in 2021. The movie is scheduled to be released in 2027.

After finishing SSMB29, SS Rajamouli plans to start shooting another film called Made In India. This new movie will tell the story of Dadasaheb Phalke, known as the Father of Indian Cinema. Jr NTR will play the lead role in that film. Rajamouli is also working on a big project to retell the Indian epic, Mahabharata, in ten parts.
