A new film on the life of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema, has been announced. Actor Aamir Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani are making a biopic on his life. This news made headlines recently. But what made it even more interesting was that filmmaker SS Rajamouli also announced a separate biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke earlier, in 2023. Now, the two big films on the same topic are creating buzz in the industry.
Aamir Khan’s Phalke Biopic Gains Support
Dadasaheb Phalke’s grandson, Chandrashekhar Srikrishna Pusalkar, has now shared his views on both projects. In a recent interview, he said he was unhappy with SS Rajamouli’s team. He mentioned that no one from Rajamouli’s side ever contacted the family for any research or details. According to him, a film about such an important person in history should involve the family because they know the real stories. He expressed disappointment that Rajamouli’s team ignored them.

However, he had a very different reaction to Aamir Khan’s project. Chandrashekhar said that Aamir Khan’s assistant producer, Hindukush Bhardwaj, had been meeting him for three years. He appreciated that they did proper research, asked many questions, and showed honesty in their work. He said Aamir Khan’s team earned their trust by being respectful and serious about the film. He also said that Aamir is the right choice to play Dadasaheb Phalke because he is a dedicated actor.

Chandrashekhar also suggested that actress Vidya Balan would be perfect to play Saraswatibai Phalke, Dadasaheb Phalke’s wife. He was glad that Aamir and Hirani were working on the film and had no objection to their project. He believes their film will tell the story in a proper and respectful way.
