Renowned Assamese singer Gayatri Hazarika has passed away at the age of 44. She breathed her last at Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati on Friday afternoon after quietly battling colon cancer. Gayatri was known for her beautiful voice and her memorable songs that touched the hearts of music lovers across Assam. One of her most famous songs was “Sara Pate Pate Fagun Name,” which became an iconic part of Assamese music.

According to hospital sources, she had been undergoing treatment for cancer for some time. Her condition worsened recently, and she was admitted to the hospital three days before her death. She was moved to the ICU, but despite all efforts, she could not survive and passed away at 2:15 PM. The hospital director confirmed the news with great sadness, stating that the music world has lost a gem.
