The TV show Suits LA, a spin-off of the popular series Suits, was cancelled by NBC after just one season. The series had a lot of expectations riding on it, but it failed to win over a large audience, leading to its sudden cancellation.
Why Was ‘Suits LA’ Cancelled After One Season?
Suits LA premiered on February 23, 2025, with high hopes for success. The spin-off featured Stephen Amell as Ted Black, Josh McDermitt as Stuart Lane, Lex Scott Davis as Erica Rollins, and Bryan Greenberg as Rick Dodsen. Fans of the original Suits were especially excited about the return of Gabriel Macht, who reprised his role as Harvey Specter. Despite these big names, the show did not receive the kind of positive response the makers were hoping for.
In an interview with Variety, Jeff Bader, the president of program planning strategy at NBC Universal Entertainment, explained why Suits LA was not renewed for a second season. He said, “It’s so hard to talk about shows and which ones you bring back, and Suits had a very short run, but it really just has not resonated the way we thought it would.” He admitted that the show did not manage to connect with viewers as the network had hoped. The lack of audience interest and poor performance on both television and digital platforms were among the reasons for the cancellation.

Bader explained that NBC made difficult decisions based on how well shows were doing, both on TV and online. The shows that showed growth and had the potential to do well in the future were given more chances. Unfortunately, Suits LA did not meet those criteria.

Despite the hype around the return of Harvey Specter and the strong connection to the original Suits series, the spin-off was unable to capture the audience’s attention. The cancellation of Suits LA shows how challenging it can be to recreate the magic of a successful show, especially when high expectations are not met.
