Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (JVAS), a classic in Telugu cinema, is celebrating its 35th anniversary on May 9, 2025. To mark the occasion, the film is being re-released in a newly remastered 3D version. The film was a big success when it was first released in 1990, and now, fans are excited to see it again in a new format.

The original producer of the film, Aswani Dutt, is leading the re-release with the help of his son-in-law, director Nag Ashwin, who is known for films like Kalki 2898 AD. Chiranjeevi, the lead actor of JVAS, reflected on the film’s lasting legacy. He spoke emotionally about his co-star, the late Sridevi, who played a key role in the film. Chiranjeevi said, “I miss Sridevi very much on this occasion. She was the heart of JVAS—her character felt like a dream. It was the first time we worked together, and our chemistry was truly special.”

Over the years, there have been talks about a possible sequel to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. However, nothing concrete had come up—until now. Chiranjeevi revealed that he was initially not in favor of a sequel but has now changed his mind. He said, “Today, I’d love to see Nag Ashwin direct it with Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. The story would be closely tied to the original—it could be a dream project for both actors.”

Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari was a big hit in 1990, made on a modest budget of Rs 2 crore and earning Rs 15 crore at the box office. The film became so popular that tickets, which were priced at just Rs 5, were resold for as high as Rs 200. It featured music by the legendary Ilayaraja, and Amrish Puri played the antagonist.
