Surbhi Chandna, a well-known TV actress recognized for her role as Anika in the popular show Ishqbaaaz, recently made headlines with her firm stance against working with the ULLU app, a platform notorious for its adult content. In an interview on Shardul Pandit podcast Uncensored with Shardul, Surbhi discussed her views on the platform and the type of content it produces.
Surbhi Chandna Rejects ULLU App Shows
When asked about whether she would ever consider appearing in a show on ULLU, Surbhi was clear in her response. She explained that she would never choose to work on the platform, as the kind of shows produced there do not resonate with her. While she clarified that it wasn’t a matter of hygiene, she emphasized that the content itself is not something she feels comfortable with. Surbhi mentioned that her personal preference and values don’t align with the genre of content ULLU typically showcases. She stated, “It’s not about hygiene issues; it’s about the content. I just don’t resonate with it.”

Surbhi’s decision comes amid a major controversy surrounding the ULLU app, particularly after a viral clip from its reality show House Arrest. The clip featured actor Ajaz Khan asking contestants to perform Kamasutra sex positions, which caused an uproar across social media. The video sparked outrage, and many criticized it for promoting explicit material in the guise of entertainment. Politicians and social media users alike expressed their disapproval, with demands for strict action against the actors and producers involved.

In response to the controversy, the National Commission for Women (NCW) took action by summoning both Ajaz Khan and Vibhu Agarwal, the CEO of ULLU. As a result of the backlash, House Arrest was removed from the platform, and it is no longer available for streaming.
