Filmmaker Dinesh Vijan, the producer of films like Chhaava and Stree 2, recently revealed exciting news at WAVES 2025. He shared that his upcoming movie Mahavatar, starring popular actor Vicky Kaushal, will be Maddock Films’ biggest project so far. The film is directed by Amar Kaushik, who is known for successful movies such as Stree, Bhediya, and Bala.
Vicky Kaushal’s Mahavatar Is Maddock’s Biggest Film
Mahavatar is based on the life of Chiranjeevi Parashuram and was first announced in December 2024 on social media. The movie is set to release in December 2026. According to Dinesh Vijan, the story is deeply rooted in Indian culture, and the film will be made using modern technology to give it a world-class quality. He mentioned that after years of trying to follow the West, Indian filmmakers are now focusing on stories that reflect their own traditions and values. This change is helping the Indian film industry grow in new directions.
During the panel discussion at WAVES 2025, Vijan expressed his belief that Indian audiences now want to watch stories about their own people and culture. He said that films like Stree and Chhaava show how local stories can become huge successes. He also said that when films perform well in the Indian market, producers can invest more in larger and better projects. That is why Maddock Films is going all out with Mahavatar.

Currently, Dinesh Vijan is also preparing for the release of another film titled Bhool Chuk Maaf, which will hit theatres on 9th May 2025. This movie features talented actors like Rajkummar Rao, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sanjay Mishra, Seema Pahwa, Zakir Hussain, Raghubir Yadav, Ishtiyak Khan, and Anubha Fatehpuria. It is directed by Karan Sharma.
