Nirmal Kapoor, the beloved mother of Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, and Sanjay Kapoor, passed away on May 2, 2025, at the age of 90. She breathed her last at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. After the news became public, many close friends and family members arrived at Boney Kapoor’s residence in Mumbai. Among the first to be spotted were well-known personalities like lyricist Javed Akhtar and filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi. Both were seen meeting Boney Kapoor and expressing their condolences.
Anshula Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor’s sister, also came to pay her last respects. Soon after, Janhvi Kapoor arrived with her rumored boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya, who was seen comforting her. Shanaya Kapoor and other members of the Kapoor family were also present at the residence.
Nirmal Kapoor had been a strong presence in the Kapoor family. She was married to the late film producer Surinder Kapoor and was the proud mother of four children: Boney, Anil, Sanjay, and Reena Kapoor Marwah. Her family includes several popular actors and filmmakers, such as Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Harsh Vardhan Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor, and Khushi Kapoor.
Last year in September, Anil Kapoor had celebrated her 90th birthday with a special family gathering. He had shared several photos on his social media, calling her the source of love, strength, and happiness in their lives.

Dr. Santosh Shetty, the CEO and Executive Director of Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, informed the media that she passed away peacefully at around 5:25 pm on Friday. The Kapoor family is yet to release an official statement.
The entire film industry mourns her death. She was not only a loving mother and grandmother but also a respected figure in one of Bollywood’s most well-known families. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched and the legacy of her children and grandchildren.
