Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited film Raid 2 made a strong debut at the box office, earning Rs 18.25 crore on its opening day. The crime thriller, which was released on May 1, 2025, sees Devgn reprise his role as the honest IRS officer Amay Patnaik, a character that won hearts in the first Raid movie back in 2018.
Raid 2 Box Office Collection Day 1 Earnings
Despite facing stiff competition from other big releases like Retro, starring Suriya, and HIT 3: The Third Case, featuring Nani, Raid 2 managed to pull in a solid opening. According to early reports, the film had a 34.36% occupancy rate across India on its first day. The morning shows were slower, with only about 21.23% occupancy, but the film picked up momentum by the evening, reaching 42% occupancy.
The movie’s success was attributed to its gripping storyline, which continues where the first film left off. In Raid 2, Devgn’s character, Amay Patnaik, continues his battle against corruption, facing new challenges and villains. Riteish Deshmukh joins the cast, playing a corrupt politician, while Vaani Kapoor portrays Patnaik’s wife.
Even though Raid 2 performed well on its opening day, it had to compete with Retro, which slightly outperformed it, earning Rs 19.25 crore. HIT 3 was not far behind, collecting Rs 18 crore. These three action-packed films have created a fierce box office battle, each attracting large crowds with their exciting plots.
