YouTuber Gaurav Taneja, known for his involvement in various ventures, including a health supplement brand and a dairy farm, recently shared his expertise on milk products. This came amid the ongoing controversy over the purity of paneer served in restaurants, especially those owned by celebrities like Gauri Khan and Virat Kohli. Many influencers have been testing paneer in restaurants for possible adulteration, especially using iodine tests to check for starch, which can indicate fake or low-quality paneer.
Gaurav Taneja Shares Insight on Milk Products
In his recent YouTube vlog, Gaurav gave his followers a transparent view of how milk and its products are made at his dairy farm. Gaurav explained the process of turning milk into butter and ghee, showing how it is done traditionally using earthen pots and wood fire. He even conducted an experiment, boiling 20 liters of milk to make butter, from which they produced over 1 kilogram of butter, and then turned it into A2 ghee.

Gaurav also addressed the ongoing social media claims about fake paneer. He pointed out that the iodine test, which some influencers have been using, is not effective for detecting fake paneer. He explained that 99% of fake paneer would still pass the iodine test because fake paneer doesn’t contain starch, which is what the iodine reacts to. He emphasized that the purity of paneer cannot be determined with just an iodine test.

This response came after a controversy where an influencer accused Gauri Khan’s restaurant, Torii, of using fake paneer. Torii clarified that the iodine test only detects starch and that their food undergoes strict quality checks, ensuring that they serve high-quality dishes to their patrons.
