In a video shared by the franchise, Virat Kohli can be seen searching for his missing bat, initially confused by the disappearance. “Where is my bat?” he asked, checking his kit bag. David, who was in on the prank, can be heard saying, “I want to see how long it takes Virat to realise one of his bats is missing.”
When Kohli discovered that one of his bats was gone, he quickly counted the remaining ones, realizing there were only six left. “I counted my bats yesterday, it was seven. Now, it’s six,” Kohli said in a slightly frustrated but amused tone.
Virat Kohli then turned his attention to David, who was clearly enjoying the moment. After a quick search, Kohli found his bat in David’s kit bag. “I didn’t take it. I just borrowed it,” David cheekily defended himself. Kohli, with a smile, responded, “You all knew about it, right?” using a few curses in jest.
David explained the reason behind the prank, “Virat was batting so nicely that we thought we’d see how long it would take him to realise one of his bats was missing. He didn’t notice. He was too happy with himself.” Kohli, however, took the prank sportingly and seemed to enjoy the joke after a moment of confusion.
Phil Salt, Kohli’s batting partner for the match, also joined in the fun, commenting, “I think he was playing on Virat’s kinder side with the way we won. He misread that one.”
The prank added some light-hearted fun to what was a successful match for RCB. Kohli’s innings were crucial to RCB’s comfortable win, and the victory moved them up the points table in IPL 2025.
