‘Bazooka’ Box Office Collections Dip on Day 2: Mammootty’s Thriller Sees Decline in Earnings

Bazooka

Mammootty’s latest film, Bazooka, has seen a decline in box office collections after its initial release, raising questions about its long-term success. The game thriller, which was released with much anticipation, opened to a decent start but faced a noticeable drop in its second day.

‘Bazooka’ Box Office Collections See Decline

The Bazooka film, directed by Deeno Dennis, earned Rs 3.2 crore on its first day. However, the earnings saw a significant dip on the second day, with collections falling to Rs 2 crore. As of now, the total box office collection stands at Rs 5.20 crore in India. Despite the strong opening, the decline in earnings is concerning, especially for a film that was expected to perform better.

The movie’s stronghold is in Kochi, where the film has seen better occupancy rates. On the first day, the film recorded 39.77% occupancy overall in Malayalam regions. In Kochi, the occupancy was impressive, reaching 67%, with night shows even peaking at 87%. However, other major cities like Bengaluru and Chennai showed a much lower turnout, with occupancy rates of just 16% and 20.25%, respectively. This disparity in audience turnout across different regions signals that the film might not be able to sustain its momentum outside of Kerala.

In terms of the star cast, Bazooka features Mammootty in a cerebral and intense role, which has been a trademark of his acting style. Alongside him, actors like Gautham Vasudev Menon, Shine Tom Chacko, and Divya Pillai play key roles. The film is a high-concept thriller that blends action and suspense, set within the context of a game. While this theme may appeal to certain audiences, the execution has left some viewers with mixed opinions.

The initial reviews for Bazooka have been a mix of praise and criticism. Some viewers have expressed disappointment with the film’s technical aspects, including the background music and slow-motion sequences, which they felt detracted from the experience. On the other hand, a few audiences appreciated the twist in the second half and found the climax engaging, even though they felt the twist was predictable.

The director, Deeno Dennis, is a debutant, and this film marks his first venture into the world of big-budget filmmaking. While the movie’s animation and game sequences were praised by some, others felt that the overall technical execution needed improvement. As with many thrillers, the expectations were high, but the movie’s pacing and story structure seemed to have let some viewers down.

As the film continues its run in theaters, it remains to be seen whether Bazooka can regain its lost momentum or if the dip in collections will persist. With a mix of audience reactions and regional variations in its performance, the film’s future at the box office is uncertain. Whether it can manage to recover or if it will fall off the radar of most moviegoers depends on the next few days’ response.
