A big box office battle is expected this year as two highly awaited films may release on the same day. Rajinikanth’s action-packed film Coolie is officially set to hit theatres on August 14, 2025. At the same time, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, is also expected to release on the same day. This has made fans very excited, but also divided, as both films are backed by huge stars and big production houses.
Rajinikanth’s Coolie to Clash With War 2
Coolie is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and stars Rajinikanth in a rugged look. The film’s (Coolie) poster has already created a buzz among fans. On the other hand, War 2 is part of the famous YRF Spy Universe, following hits like Tiger 3. Kiara Advani also plays an important role in the film. Though the makers haven’t officially confirmed the release date of War 2, sources say it is likely to arrive on Independence Day weekend as well.
This possible clash has become a hot topic on social media. While fans of both stars are cheering, trade experts are wondering if both films will suffer at the box office due to divided attention. Some even recall earlier reports of a third film, Lahore: 1947, starring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, joining the clash. However, recent updates suggest Lahore: 1947 will now be released in June 2025, avoiding the tight competition.
