Test Movie Review: The movie Test, starring R Madhavan, Nayanthara, and Siddharth, is based on the idea of people facing big challenges in their personal lives during a high-pressure India vs Pakistan cricket match. Directed by S Sashikanth, this film tries to mix emotion, drama, and thriller, but doesn’t fully succeed.
Test Movie Review: Ambition Falls Short
The story follows three main characters. Arjun, played by Siddharth, is a former cricket star whose career is going downhill. He struggles with his form and has problems in his family life. Nayanthara plays Kumudha, a schoolteacher who desperately wants to become a mother after a painful miscarriage. She is planning her final IVF attempt on the same day as the cricket match. Her husband, Saravanan, played by Madhavan, is a smart scientist pretending to be a simple canteen owner. He’s secretly working on a new fuel project and is in deep trouble with dangerous loan sharks.

The film (Test Movie Review) has a strong idea. It tries to show how obsession and life pressures can push people to make difficult choices. Saravanan even says in one scene, “The world doesn’t exist in binary,” showing how complex life can be.
However, the film fails to hold interest throughout. It’s almost two and a half hours long and feels slow in many parts. Instead of letting us feel the characters’ struggles, the film tells us their problems through dialogue, which makes it harder to connect emotionally.
Madhavan gives the best performance. His character is deep, and he shows his pain and confusion well. Nayanthara also acts well, although her role is sometimes too focused only on motherhood. Siddharth’s role could have been more expressive—his performance feels flat.
Visually, the film (Test Movie Review) has some good scenes, especially during the cricket match moments. The music, by Shakthisree Gopalan, tries to bring feeling to the scenes, though sometimes it does too much.

In the final part of the movie, the story suddenly becomes a thriller with match-fixing and other surprises. But this part feels rushed and doesn’t match the emotional build-up from earlier. The ending wraps up too quickly, leaving many deeper themes untouched.
