Veteran Tamil and Malayalam actor Ravikumar Menon passed away on Friday morning at the age of 71. He died at a private hospital in Chennai after battling cancer. According to reports, he was undergoing treatment at Prashanth Hospital in Velachery, and his body will be taken to his home in Valasaravakkam, Chennai. His last rites are expected to be held over the weekend.
Veteran Actor Ravikumar Menon Passes Away
Ravikumar Menon was a well-known actor in the Tamil and Malayalam film and television industries. He acted in many films and shows, both as a lead and in supporting roles. He was born in Thrissur, Kerala, to producer KMK Menon and actress Bharathi Menon. His first appearance was in the 1968 Malayalam film Lakshaprabhu, and his debut as a lead actor came in the 1975 movie Ullasa Yaathra.

He also acted in several Tamil films like Aashirvadham and Avargal in 1977. He continued working in films until 2022 and appeared in projects like Allauddinum Albhutha Vilakkum, Aarattu, CBI 5: The Brain, and Veetla Vishesham. Throughout his career, he worked with many popular stars including Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, and Mammootty. He also collaborated with respected directors like J Sasikumar and K Balachander.
Ravikumar also had a successful television career. In 1997, he acted in Iyandhira Paravai, part of the Marmadesam series on Raj TV. He later appeared in Jannal: Marabu Kavithaigal on Sun TV and most recently had a cameo role in the serial Kannedhirey Thondrinal on Kalaignar TV. He even worked in a Telugu show called Anubandham, though most of his work remained in Tamil and Malayalam.
