The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially closed the case related to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. After nearly four and a half years of investigation, the agency submitted its closure report to a Mumbai court, stating that no evidence was found to suggest foul play in his death.
CBI Closes Sushant Singh Rajput Case
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14, 2020. His sudden demise led to widespread speculation, and his father, KK Singh, filed a complaint in Bihar, accusing the actor’s then-rumored girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, and others of abetment to suicide, financial fraud, and mental harassment. The case was later handed over to the CBI for further investigation.

Rhea Chakraborty, who was at the center of the controversy, was arrested along with her brother Shouvik Chakraborty and others in a separate drug-related case linked to Sushant’s death. She spent 27 days in jail before being released on bail by the Bombay High Court. Over the years, several reports and media debates fueled public opinion, with many demanding justice for Sushant.
However, forensic experts from AIIMS, who provided a report to the CBI, dismissed claims that Sushant was poisoned or strangled. Their findings supported the initial conclusion that the actor had died by suicide. Despite multiple angles being explored in the investigation, the CBI found no proof of any criminal conspiracy.
Following the closure of the case, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, expressed his relief and gratitude to the CBI for conducting a thorough investigation. He stated that Rhea endured immense suffering due to baseless accusations and media trials. He also emphasized the importance of justice and hoped that innocent individuals would not face similar harassment in the future.
The case had captured national attention, leading to intense debates on social media and television channels. Many theories and allegations emerged, some blaming Bollywood, others hinting at a larger conspiracy. But with the CBI’s report concluding no foul play, the legal battle surrounding Sushant’s death has now come to an end.
