Mohanlal’s much-anticipated Malayalam film Empuraan has already created a buzz even before its release. The movie has achieved record-breaking advance sales, crossing ₹10 crore in pre-bookings. This is the highest pre-sales figure for a Malayalam film overseas.
Empuraan Breaks Advance Booking Record
The advance booking for the Indian audience began on March 21, and fans are eagerly waiting for its release. The film is expected to open with earnings between ₹40-50 crore worldwide, making it the biggest-ever opening for a Malayalam movie. Currently, the highest opening record is held by Marakkar, which earned ₹20 crore. If Empuraan gets positive reviews, it could become the highest-grossing Malayalam film.

The movie is a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. It stars Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, and Tovino Thomas in lead roles. The film is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, marking his third collaboration with Mohanlal. It is produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies.

Mohanlal has expressed his excitement about reuniting with Prithviraj, calling him a talented and sensitive director. The film will release in multiple languages, including Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, on March 27.
