Mahir Pandhi, a talented actor known for his role as Digvijay in Vanshaj, is now stepping into the world of mythology. He is playing the roles of Bali and Sugreev in the television show Veer Hanuman. In a recent interview, he shared his excitement about portraying these characters and also made an interesting comparison between Bali and Marvel’s Thanos.
Mahir Pandhi Compares Bali, Thanos
Mahir Pandhi believes that Thanos is just a “weaker version” of Bali. He explained that many ancient mythological stories across different cultures have similarities. According to him, Bali’s story existed long before Thanos was created. He pointed out that Bali had immense strength and was considered the most powerful warrior of his time. The idea of a powerful being fighting for dominance is not new, and Bali’s character in Ramayana reflects this concept.

Talking about his experience working on a mythological show for the first time, Mahir expressed his excitement. He mentioned that he always looks for new challenges as an actor and does not like repeating the same kind of roles. Playing Bali and Sugreev has given him a unique opportunity to explore different shades of performance. He also mentioned that the show aims to present well-known stories in a fresh and engaging way.
For his role, Mahir Pandhi had to undergo a major physical transformation. He explained that people in ancient times did not have modern gyms, but they were naturally strong due to their lifestyle, which involved wars and survival in tough conditions. He made sure to build his physique in a way that looks natural for the character. Since Bali and Sugreev were mighty warriors, it was important for him to do justice to their powerful appearances.
Mahir Pandhi also spoke about how he balances playing both Bali and Sugreev. He explained that while Bali represents a more intense and dominant side of his personality, Sugreev brings out his more relatable and real side. Switching between the two roles has been a learning experience, and he enjoys the process of understanding both characters deeply.
One interesting aspect of Mahir’s preparation for Bali’s character was designing his look. He shared that Bali’s hairstyle is inspired by the Vikings series. However, he believes that many elements from Vikings actually originated from Indian culture. He explained that certain warrior aesthetics, including hairstyles and battle appearances, have always been a part of Indian mythology. Bali’s look in the show is a reminder of these ancient traditions.
Mahir Pandhi considers playing Bali and Sugreev a blessing rather than a challenge. He feels grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a significant mythological story. He hopes that his performance leaves a lasting impression on the audience. His dedication to the role, both physically and emotionally, shows how much he values this project.
