The fires, which started in early January, were among the largest in California’s history. They caused widespread destruction, killing at least 28 people and destroying over 16,000 homes. The concert aimed to support both immediate relief and long-term fire prevention.
Actor Billy Crystal, who was directly affected by the fires, opened the event at the Kia Forum. He spoke about losing his home and expressed his gratitude for the first responders. Other performers included No Doubt, Nirvana, and Olivia Rodrigo, with many of the artists being from Los Angeles.
Dr. Dre performed with Anderson .Paak, and Katy Perry, a California native, showed support by waving the state’s flag. The concert also featured surprise collaborations, such as Billie Eilish and Green Day.

During the show, viewers were encouraged to donate to the cause, and all donations were matched by the Ballmer family, who owns the LA Clippers. The funds raised will be directed to relief efforts managed by the Annenberg Foundation.
The fires that led to the concert, the Palisades and Eaton fires, were made worse by strong winds and dry conditions. Climate change has also been linked to the increasing severity of such fires in the region.
FireAid not only brought together musicians and celebrities but also highlighted the importance of supporting communities affected by natural disasters. The concert was a reminder of the power of collective action and the role of music in raising awareness and funds for important causes.
