Quentin Tarantino Reveals Future Plans: Family First, No Rush for Final Movie Yet

Quentin Tarantino, the legendary director of iconic films like Kill Bill and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, recently shared his thoughts on his career and future plans. In an insightful conversation at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, Tarantino explained why he’s not rushing to make his final movie just yet. The 60-year-old director emphasized that, after spending 30 years in Hollywood, he is taking a step back to prioritize other aspects of his life.

Quentin Tarantino Focuses on Family, Delays Final Movie

During a discussion with film critic Elvis Mitchell, Tarantino opened up about his current focus. When asked why he has been focusing more on writing instead of directing, Tarantino shared that he was in no hurry to begin production on his next project. He revealed that one of his main priorities right now is spending time with his family, especially his young children.

“My son turns 5 next month, and I have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter,” said Tarantino. “When I’m in America, I’m writing. When I’m in Israel? I’m an abba, which means father.” His dedication to being a present father was clear as he explained that he wouldn’t begin his next film project until his son was 6 years old. This would allow his son to appreciate and understand the significance of the experience, making the moment even more special.

Though Tarantino is not directing right now, he is still creatively active. He is currently working on writing a play, which he plans to complete before diving into his next film project. Despite this shift in focus, Tarantino remains committed to his craft and will eventually return to the world of filmmaking when the time feels right.

Tarantino also took a moment to praise his daughter, who he believes is already showing signs of being a “genius.” As for his future movie, the director made it clear that he wants it to be a memorable experience for his children and to leave a lasting legacy, but he is in no rush to make it happen. Tarantino’s approach to his career and family shows a thoughtful balance between personal life and professional work.
