Late-night show host Jimmy Kimmel recently called out former U.S. President Donald Trump for making surprising and inaccurate claims about California’s water supply in relation to wildfires. Trump suggested that California has a large valve that could redirect water to fight fires, but Kimmel used his show to debunk the statement with humor and facts.
Kimmel Debunks Trump’s Wildfire Claim
While discussing California’s ongoing wildfire crisis, Trump claimed, “They have a valve…like a massive sink. You turn it, and the water goes back to Los Angeles. Why aren’t they using it?”
Jimmy Kimmel reacted sarcastically, calling the statement absurd. He joked, “How did we forget about our giant super-sink?” Kimmel then clarified for his audience, “There is no such valve that can stop fires in Los Angeles. It doesn’t exist.”
Kimmel expressed concern that remarks like these mislead the public. He criticized the lack of correction for such statements and emphasized the importance of understanding the real causes of wildfires. “It makes no sense to anyone, including him, but no one says anything,” Kimmel added.
California wildfires are caused by multiple factors like climate change, dry vegetation, and urban planning. Oversimplifying the issue, as Kimmel pointed out, does not help in addressing or solving it.
