Columbus explained that while making the original movies (The Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001 and The Chamber of Secrets in 2002), there were challenges in fitting long books into two-to-three-hour films. He said, “There’s a certain restriction when you’re making a film.” The new series format, with several episodes for each book, offers a chance to include scenes and details that couldn’t be shown in the movies.

When asked about rumors of Cillian Murphy being cast as Lord Voldemort, Columbus expressed his admiration for the actor. He described Murphy as “fantastic” and said he would support the idea of him playing the iconic villain.

Ralph Fiennes originally portrayed Voldemort in the Harry Potter films, leaving a lasting impression. Fans are eager to see who will take on the role in the new series, and Murphy’s name has sparked excitement.

The upcoming Harry Potter series on HBO is highly anticipated. Fans are hopeful it will dive deeper into the rich details of the books. Meanwhile, all eight original Harry Potter movies remain available for streaming, continuing to enchant audiences worldwide.

Chris Columbus’s enthusiasm for the series and his praise for Cillian Murphy add to the growing buzz around this magical reboot.
