Cher Reveals Val Kilmer Heartbreak
“I was madly in love with Val Kilmer, and he left,” Che revealed, referring to the actor famous for his role as Iceman in Top Gun. Howard Stern was surprised by the revelation, asking, “Why would he leave one of the most beautiful women in the world?” Cher explained that sometimes relationships, no matter how good, have an expiration date.
Cher and Kilmer dated from 1982 to 1984. Despite their 13-year age gap, they formed a strong bond, connected by their shared humor and unique personalities. She described Kilmer as “exasperating, hysterical, thrilling, and funny,” saying he was unlike anyone she had ever met.
The singer also touched on her dating preferences. In the past, she has often dated younger men because they were more confident about being with an older woman. “If I hadn’t gone out with younger men, I would never have had a date,” she admitted during an earlier interview.
Kilmer, in his memoir I’m Your Huckleberry, also spoke highly of Cher, calling her love and loyalty unwavering. Their relationship, though short-lived, left a lasting impression on both stars.
Cher, now in a relationship with music producer Alexander “AE” Edwards, reflected fondly on her time with Kilmer. “I loved him—and I love him,” she said, proving that some connections stay strong, even after decades.
Their story is a reminder of how love can be both joyful and bittersweet, leaving behind cherished memories that last a lifetime.
