She recalled a horrifying accident that occurred while filming a scene for the TV show Gharwali Uparwali in 2000. The accident happened when a junior artist, who was not properly trained to drive, was asked to learn how to drive in just two hours. During the scene, the artist accidentally drove over Niki, causing severe injuries.

Niki Walia recalls Shah Rukh’s support
Niki Walia was left under the car with a badly injured right hand. She remembered feeling her ear peeling off and being dragged along the ground as the car moved. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she spent over a month undergoing treatment.
One night, while still in the hospital, Niki woke up to a surprising and heartwarming sight: Shah Rukh Khan was sitting beside her bed. She initially thought it was just a hallucination caused by the heavy medication she was on. However, Shah Rukh reassured her, holding her hand and saying, “It’s Shah. I’m so sorry.”
Shah Rukh explained that he had waited until late at night to visit because of the paparazzi outside. He shared that he had seen the accident firsthand, as he was at Film City at the time. He also revealed that he had noticed the same red Maruti van involved in the accident and knew the driver was inexperienced.
