Rohit Shetty on Ranveer-Deepika Romance
Rohit Shetty revealed that although he initially thought about showing a romance between the two, it could have been problematic. The reason was that Ranveer’s character in the movie is inspired by Lord Hanuman, a respected figure in Hindu mythology. Rohit felt that any romantic interaction between Ranveer and Deepika might have been misunderstood and could have upset people. The character of Ranveer needed to be portrayed with the utmost respect, so the director decided to keep the focus away from romance.
Rohit explained that while Ranveer’s character had playful moments with Akshay Kumar’s character, he chose not to take the same approach with Deepika. He wanted to avoid anything that could make the audience uncomfortable. Rohit Shetty stressed that their main goal was to ensure no one would feel hurt or disrespected.
The director also spoke about the challenge of bringing in themes from the Ramayan in Singham Again. He said they were very careful with how they presented these elements, as they didn’t want to offend anyone. The team wanted to balance the action-packed nature of the film with the emotional and cultural significance of the Ramayan.
Rohit Shetty made it clear that the decision was not about avoiding romance for the sake of it, but about respecting the themes they were working with and ensuring the film would connect well with audiences without causing any controversies.
