During a panel discussion at the Rhode Island Comic Con on November 3, 2024, he emphasized how these relationships helped him and his fellow young actors navigate the challenges of growing up in the spotlight.

Matthew Lewis mentioned that, unlike many other child actors, the Harry Potter cast members had a supportive environment. He joked about how well they managed to hide their struggles and noted that their shared experiences were unique. He stated, “A lot of the fears that we had were all shared, and no one else could truly understand what we went through.”
He reflected on how transitioning from child actors to adults in the industry can be tricky, with feelings of anxiety and uncertainty. However, the friendships they built during their time filming helped ground him. Lewis expressed that he cherished these relationships more than the films themselves, saying, “The only thing that I have held onto was those relationships we forged.”
