James Franco recently discussed the end of his 20-year friendship with Seth Rogen during an interview. The two actors, known for their work in comedy, first teamed up in 1999 on the TV show Freaks and Geeks and later starred in popular films like Pineapple Express and The Disaster Artist.
James Franco-Rogen Friendship Ends Unresolved
Their friendship faced challenges after allegations of sexual misconduct against Franco surfaced in 2018. Five women, including four of Franco’s acting students, accused him of inappropriate behavior. In 2019, two of the accusers filed a lawsuit, which was settled in 2021 for $2.23 million. Although Franco denied the allegations, the situation strained his relationship with Rogen. In an interview that year, Rogen stated he no longer planned to work with Franco, emphasizing his strong stance against abuse and harassment.

Fast forward to October 2024, Franco admitted to Variety that he and Rogen have not spoken since the allegations. He expressed his feelings about their friendship, saying, “I love Seth; we had 20 great years together, but I guess it’s over.” He also noted that he had made efforts to reconnect but was met with silence.
Franco shared these thoughts while promoting his new movie Hey Joe, which premiered at the Rome Film Festival. He spoke about his time away from Hollywood, reflecting on how he used the hiatus to focus on personal growth and build a lasting relationship with actress Izabel Pakzad.
As Franco returns to acting with new projects, he hopes to embrace a different pace in life, allowing him to explore his personal experiences more deeply.
