Hayley Williams Claps Back at Critics Accusing Her iHeartRadio Anti-Trump Speech of Being Scripted

Hayley Williams, the lead singer of Paramore, recently responded to criticism about her speech at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, where she openly condemned Donald Trump.

Hayley Williams Defends Speech

Critics accused her of reading from a script and questioned if she was paid to make the statement. Williams addressed this on her Instagram, explaining that she had written her speech and used a teleprompter only in case she became nervous. She clarified that she wasn’t paid for the performance or the speech, and that she had prepared her remarks because of their importance.

During the festival, Williams urged Americans to vote against Trump, citing his policies as harmful to women, minorities, and the LGBTQ+ community. She questioned whether the audience wanted to live in a dictatorship and stressed the need for unity in defeating Trump’s agenda at the polls.

The performance, alongside her bold political stance, drew significant attention, with other artists like The Weeknd, Doja Cat, and Coldplay also making headlines for their performances during the event.
