Reba McEntire is making a big return to television comedy with the new NBC sitcom Happy’s Place. This is McEntire’s first sitcom role in 17 years, following her successful show Reba, which aired from 2001 to 2007. In Happy’s Place, McEntire plays Bobbie, a strong and independent woman who owns a bar left to her by her father, Happy.

Such a sweet note in Bobbie’s life comes when she discovers in her deceased father’s will, that half of the bar belongs to a stepsister named Isabella, portrayed by Belissa Escobedo. This is an interesting twist which changes the dynamics of Bobbie’s life and the bar. According to McEntire, Bobbie is the type of woman that has had her fair share of troubles; she is a widow and her daughter is in the Army.

Melissa Peterman has portrayed the character of Gabby, a warm hearted but overly attached bartender into the show while Pablo Castelblanco has portrayed the character of Steve, an extremely choosy accountant. The short-tempered cook at the bar is Rex Linn who is Reba McEntire’s real-life boyfriend for the series. McEntire has been helpful in advising Linn especially because this is the first time the latter has been cast in a sitcom. I wondered why she said that he should not memorize the lines well because most of the time during rehearsals, improvements are made which affect the flow of the show.
During the interview, she was able to comment that a lot can be credited to her previous show Reba which she said helped her learn everything she needs to know on a sitcom TV comedy show. She understands how to go through rehearsal and coping with changes and she tried to pass some of it on to Linn regarding sitcom life.
Happy’s Place season 1 will air on October 18, 8 p. m. ET/PT, NBC. Of course, the show is funny, and new adventures will be in focus with Reba McEntire returning to the screen.
