Gurdas Maan Recalls How Yash Chopra Persuaded Him to Appear in 'Veer-Zaara' Cameo

Punjabi music legend Gurdas Maan recently shared memories of working on the film Veer-Zaara as it returns to theaters. Maan, who sang in the film, also appeared in a cameo in the song ‘Aisa Des Hai Mera’.

Gurdas Maan’s Veer-Zaara Cameo

In an interview, Maan revealed that his cameo was not planned initially. He was shooting for another film, Des Hoya Pardes, when he was persuaded by director Yash Chopra to join the Veer-Zaara shoot. Chopra insisted that since Maan had recorded the song, he should also be part of the video. Maan agreed and took a break from his own shoot to participate in Veer-Zaara.

The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, is known for its touching songs and love story. Maan’s contribution to the soundtrack, including the popular tracks ‘Aisa Des Hai Mera’ and ‘Lohri’, is fondly remembered.

Veer-Zaara will be re-released in theaters on September 13, almost 20 years after its original release in 2004. The film features a star-studded cast and is celebrated for its beautiful portrayal of love and cultural heritage.
