Oprah Winfrey recently shared some personal thoughts with her fans on social media, including which fictional character she would like to have lunch with. When asked on Threads, Winfrey chose Pecola Breedlove from Toni Morrison’s 1970 novel The Bluest Eye. Pecola is a young Black girl who dreams of having blue eyes. Winfrey said she would tell Pecola, “You don’t need blue eyes because you’re beautiful just the way you are.”

In addition to this, Winfrey shared her ideal reading spot. She mentioned enjoying a book while sitting on a sofa, near a fireplace, and wrapped in a cozy cashmere blanket, though she’s also happy with cotton or wool blankets. She recommended everyone read A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle at least once in their lives.
Winfrey also announced that Elizabeth Strout’s Tell Me Everything would be the next book in Oprah’s Book Club. The novel features characters Lucy Barton and Olive Kitteridge, who are beloved from Strout’s previous works.
Oprah’s Book Club began in 1996 on The Oprah Winfrey Show and continues to highlight notable books. In 2024, her picks include Familiaris by David Wroblewski, Long Island by Colm Tóibín, and The Many Lives of Mama Love by Lara Love Hardin.
Last year, Winfrey co-authored a self-help book with Harvard professor Arthur C. Brooks titled Build the Life You Want: The Art and Science of Getting Happier.
