Cate Blanchett’s Memorable Movie Moments

During an appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival, Blanchett talked about her long career and shared some memories from the set of The Talented Mr. Ripley. The film, based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel, follows Tom Ripley, a clever and deceitful con artist who manages to get involved in the life of wealthy Dickie Greenleaf (played by Jude Law) and his girlfriend Marge Sherwood (played by Gwyneth Paltrow).

Blanchett fondly remembered her time on set, stating, “It was one of my best jobs.” She also recalled spending a memorable summer with her co-stars, including the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. She mentioned, “We went to a place called Fashion Pizza. We ate lots of pizza.”

Blanchett humorously noted that during the shoot, she stayed in Matt Damon’s beautiful apartment while he was busy training daily at the Four Seasons hotel. Meanwhile, she got to relax and enjoy her time.

At the festival, TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey discussed Blanchett’s career and mentioned they would be showing clips from her films, including The Aviator. Blanchett joked about feeling uncomfortable watching herself on screen, saying, “These things are not — one is not meant to watch back.”

Cate Blanchett was at the festival to promote her two upcoming projects: a psychological thriller miniseries titled Disclaimer and a black comedy film called Rumors. In Disclaimer, she plays Catherine Ravenscroft, an investigative journalist known for exposing the wrongdoings of others. However, her life takes a shocking turn when she receives a mysterious novel that reveals her deepest secrets.

Disclaimer is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on October 11, 2024. The series features a talented cast, including Louis Partridge, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kevin Kline, Kodi Smit-McPhee, HoYeon Jung, Lesley Manville, and Leila George.
