As Stree celebrates its sixth anniversary, fans are also enjoying its sequel, Stree 2, which has been a big hit at the box office. Released on August 31, 2018, Stree is a popular horror-comedy starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor.

Rajkummar Rao Influence on Stree
On this special occasion, it’s interesting to note that Rajkummar Rao played a key role in deciding the film’s title. In a past interview with PTI, Rao revealed that he suggested the title Stree. He recalled that when directors Raj & DK first presented the script, it had a different name. Rao thought the name Stree would be catchy and suggested it to the team, which they eventually adopted.
To mark the anniversary, Maddock Films shared a video on Instagram featuring memorable scenes from the movie. The caption celebrated the film’s impact, saying, “6 years ago, we met the #Stree jo kuch bhi kar sakti hai & we’ve loved her ever since. Celebrating 6 Years of Stree!”
Stree is set in the town of Chanderi, haunted by a spirit named Stree who abducts men at night. Rajkummar Rao plays Vicky, who meets a mysterious girl, portrayed by Shraddha Kapoor, and with his friends, tries to save the town. The film also features Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi in key roles.
The film’s soundtrack, including hits like “Milegi Milegi” and “Kamariya,” became very popular.
Stree 2, released on August 15, 2024, continues the story from the first film and introduces a new villain, Sarkata. The original cast returns, and the film includes cameos by Varun Dhawan, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Akshay Kumar. Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande, the sequel expands the Maddock Supernatural Universe.
