The 81st Venice International Film Festival, one of the world’s oldest film festivals, kicked off on August 28, 2024. The festival is showcasing a range of exciting films, with many Hollywood and international productions making their debuts.

Venice Film Festival 2024 Highlights
To commence the festival there was a new comedy horror movie directed by Tim Burton—Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The screening will end on September 7 with the Italian movie L’American yard by Pupi Avati. This year’s lineup features several highly anticipated movies:
- Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.
- Maria, directed by Pablo Larrain and starring Angelina Jolie.
- Kill The Jockey (El Jockie), a Spanish sports drama directed by Luis Ortega.
- Babygirl, an American erotic thriller featuring Nicole Kidman.
- Three Friends, a French romantic comedy by Emmanuel Mouret.
It must be noted that the festival is celebrated in the Venice Lido, which is an exquisite island in the Venetian Lagoon. It is that time of the year they start announcing winners and very often features strong Oscar contenders. Movies produced here have been nominated for many Oscars with Emma Stone’s Poor Things winning her the Best Actress Award.
The celebrities that are likely to attend the event include Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Lady Gaga, Joaquin Phoenix, Angelina Jolie among others to the Lido.
The films participate for a very special and highly valued prize, the Golden Lion award. Among the 21 movies in contention there are dramatic movies, thriller, and comedies from around the world.
