Why Tim Burton Baldwin and Davis Aren’t Returning?
In the original Beetlejuette Barbara and Tim Burton Adam Maitland characters were depicted by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis respectively and these two are ghosts of the house. Although both characters had very important parts in the film, Burton decided not to bring them into the second film at all. He said he felt that the new movie should be able to tell different characters and different stories than the previous films of that series.
Tim Burton also said, “I didn’t want to just tick any boxes. Even though they were such an amazing part of the first one, I was focusing on something else. “
The sequel to follow will be released in 2024 and will have Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, and Michael Keaton in the lead role as they were present in the first section of this series. New cast members are Jenna Ortega who plays as Astrid Deetz and Monica Bellucci who plays as Delores.
The main storyline of the movie is in the family of Deetz’s who spend the time in their house after the tragedy. Desperate to fix what she has done Astrid has to make peace with the dead.On discovering a model of Balleytown that she had never seen before Astrid accidentally sets a portal to the afterlife which brings Confusion.
With the new story that has been introduced to Burton’s film, the focus is on the intergenerational interaction such as between a mother, daughter, grandmother and granddaughter. According to him, concentration on the generational shifts is one of the elements that define the sequel.
The notion that Burton wanted to look to the past was not on the agenda with the sequel but to look at the new things and the new aspects of relation. This new approach is a strategy that aims at providing the intention of this new film differently while paying homage to the first movie.
