Salman Khan Early Doubts
Although Salman Khan tried his luck in acting as early as Biwi Ho To Aisi in 1988, it was Maine Pyar Kiya that give him his first break. Still, Salman admitted in an old interview on filmmaker Karan Johar’s show Koffee With Karan that he was not sure to become a star in the past. Recalling his childhood, Salman had to admit that he had thought that his future would be uncertain and troubled, he would be poor.
During this interview, when grilled, Salman revealed that he never considered himself to be handsome or that he was going to become a star. He said it to the extent that when he used to go to parties, people hardly paid attention to his existence. This lack of attention gave more boost to the doubts that he had in pursuing his career in the film industry.
The Turning Point
Salman Khan attributes his car journey to stardom to having the right directors at the right time, choosing the right stories and of course the huge success of Maine Pyar Kiya. It was for this film alone that he felt that he could be categorized as a star. But until that time he did not think that he possesses what it takes to be a successful leading actor in Bollywood.
Laying down the example on the continuity of events, Salman humorously said that unlike characters who blink and see people noticing them when they walk in, he used to be virtually unnoticed in his early years. This had a strong effect on him and played its role in the confusion he had regarding the career path at first.
Salman’s Humility Despite Stardom
Despite Salman Khan today being one of the biggest stars of Bollywood he still remains a grounded man. Having been dubbed a ‘superstar’ in an interview with Pinkvilla, he was not comfortable with it as he doesn’t feel he has achieved anything on his own to deserve the label. As for Salman it is all about his job and about ensuring that the audience likes whatever he offers them on the silver screen.
