Major Easter Eggs in Alien: Romulus

Alien: Romulus Romulus is filled with Easter eggs that reference previous movies in the franchise, creating a rich experience for long-time fans.

  1. The movie’s opening scene is a direct nod to the original Alien (1979). The technical equipment and opening credits design are intentionally similar, creating a sense of nostalgia and connection to the first film.
  2. One of the most famous lines from Aliens (1986), “Get away from her, you b*tch,” originally delivered by Ripley, is echoed in Romulus. In this film, the character Andy delivers the same line, tying the new movie to its predecessors.
  3. The mining colony in Romulus has a striking resemblance to Hadley’s Hope from Aliens. This visual similarity is another way the filmmakers link the new movie to the classic ones.
  4. The discovery of an alien nest by the characters Rain and Andy is reminiscent of scenes from the earlier films, especially Aliens. This reinforces the continuity between the movies and the shared universe they inhabit.
  5. Even though Alien 3 (1992) was not as popular as the first two films, Romulus still includes subtle references to it, like the dwindling 20th-century fanfare at the beginning of the movie. Additionally, Alien Resurrection (1997) inspired the design of Kay’s mutant baby in Romulus, similar to the hybrid creature seen in Resurrection.
  6. Prometheus (2012) is known for exploring the origins of the xenomorphs. Romulus pays homage to this by including a scene where Kay gives birth to an engineered xenomorph-human hybrid, echoing a similar scene from Prometheus where Elizabeth Shaw gives birth to an alien.
