The Union: A Reunion with a Twist Mark Wahlberg

In The Union, Mark Wahlberg is Mike McKenna, a construction worker from New Jersey who was left unchanged by modernity and waits for inspiration in the form of a woman. That someone turns to be his high school sweetheart, Roxanne, wonderfully portrayed by Halle Berry. When Roxanne comes back to Mike’s life, he is taken through an intelligence operation in Europe. As far as action the film is filled with spy adventures, car chases and the undeniable sparks between the two heroes.

There, Wahlburg elaborated that such a guy as Mike, who tries to please all the ladies who speak to him, would do everything to impress the woman of his life. That is why Roxanne remained the one for Mike and he has never stopped waiting for her after 25 years and a host of other relationships that he could have had.

Behind the Scenes: Different Training Schedules

In the preparation for the film, Wahlberg remained ever conservative in his daily activity regime, which entails waking at 4 in the morning. Berry however shot her scenes in a different regimen unlike Wahlberg shooting separately from Berry. She said that she was not previously privy to his rigorous gym routine before they began collaborating and the fact that he goes to bed early.

The film, directed by Julian Farino, features a strong supporting cast, including Mike Colter, Jackie Earle Haley, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, J.K. Simmons, Alice Lee, Jessica De Gouw, James McMenamin, and Lorraine Bracco.
