What Happened in Season 1?
In the first season of the series, a character named Emily portrayed by Alia Shawkat discovers that her biological father is Belour Hamzad. She was then kidnapped by him at the close of the season. Now, Dan and Harold have to save her even though they are not the best of friends, or even acquaintances at this point.
It seems that the new season will be very dynamic, and contain a lot of staking episodes, shootings and car races. But it is not only the action which the show speaks about – it is also the feelings of the characters. Dan and Harold are both in love with Emily, and both believe themselves to be in some way Emily’s father which causes a lot of conflict.
New Faces and Adventures
This season will also bring new characters and make settings all over the world as Dan and Harold track Hamzad. New faces are Jacqueline Antaramian as Khadija, a sister of Hamzad and Gbenga Akinnagbe as Julian Carson, a special contractor in operations. Also starring is Amy Brenneman as Zoe McDonald who is on the side of Dan Chase.
The Theme of Fatherhood
Another important topic of the novel The Old Man is the question of paternal identity. All those characters – Dan and Harold who are Emily’s co-workers and Hamzad, her boyfriend – are significant in Emily’s life. Both of them will try to show the audience how they envision their relationship with her and what it means to be a father.
